“I understand the comment about the water,” Zara said.

“Grandma uses ice water and the pastry always works out for her and I use hot water.  There’s nothing wrong with Grandma’s recipe, it just my choice.

Taking a sip of the chocolate shake, Zara’s eyes immediately showed her pain as she threw her hand over her mouth.

“Does it hurt that bad?” Annie asked.  Zara only nodded.  “Oh baby. You’re on social assistance and they have a dental program.  You can get your teeth fixed.  I have to go too.”

“You can go on Welfare too, you know,” Zara said.

“Yes, I could,” Annie whispered.
