Why, oh why, do the pounds multiply
With such abandoned joy;
Yet the mighty muscles fail to fight
Their way to present station?
I know the flab is mindless sent
By thoughts of cookies, cakes and peppermint.
Need to get this head into the ring
For the fight my svelte self to bring.
Once even I was thin and fit
I danced and sweat in the basement pit
Every night without fail
And even enjoyed the trail.
But times have come and gone alas
And so has my waistline and my a. . . .
So here I sit with coffee cup,
And chocolate square, and my dear pup.
Need now to stand up straight
Put on the boots and strap on weights
Take the dog for a walk
No more time to sit and talk.
Farewell
