Tree Petal

To love and be loved

With emotion like the

Like the motion of the leaf

Bursting forth from the hard

Green bud

And unfurling itself

To reveal its secrets.

To dance in the wind

And to clap in excitement

With her friends when

The Holy Spirit rushes in.

One part of a collective

Fresh breath,

And a trash collector

For the tree,

Shade for the living souls

And a quiet source of beauty.

Then, as if in a race

For recognition

Or a sense of passing

The torch onto the

Next generation,

She morphs into

Fiery complexion

And falls to the earth

To become crisp, dry,

And eventually to crumble

Returning to nourish

The tree from which

She came.

Oh may the season

Of love be long.
