The yellow box of seeds
Sat on the counter
holding prospects of
Happy faced Calendula, lively lady Cosmos,
Stately purple Delphinium, ruffled dancer Dianthus,
Tutu bottomed Echinacea, laced pea Gypsophila
Which will infuse a lively, living rainbow
Around the silvered barn.
Ten square meters of magnificent color
Which will burst from little brown nodules
In the box of promise.
Oh how wonderful when the
Spartan seeds grow to showy
And the foreboding question
Enveloped her thoughts . . .
Will these seeds ever see
The land outside the box?
