She almost gave up
And gave it one last try
To serve coffee at the
Coffee shop, but
There they said
She could not.
Age it was
She couldn’t keep up.
Years and years
Of education
Times well spent
With her vocation
Teaching her children well.
And now it’s so
She can’t get hired
She’s getting tired.
Bills are huge
And bank account low
Mood is black
And surely it shows.
Until one day
A young lass does
See her resume
And values her life
experiences.
Rounds and rounds
Of interviews and a
Career is born
To one who was
Refused.
Oh the gratitude
To the one who saw
A little value in
The one in her fall.

Agism is a real thing. I’ve been on that side; it’s humiliating.
