Of warm coffee
in a happy mug
and a fridge full of
filling food
and a pantry with the
staples holding together
good health.
Friends who live
on the other side
of the phone
and a dog who has
loyalty and loving ways
that can be counted on.
A certain hope of
spring to come again
and in the meantime
my grandmother’s
book of God’s fire to
snuggle up to
in the winter night.
